It's been more than a month!

I'm moving into my new apartment this weekend and ofcourse there'll be some pictures. I hope that this change will help me focus and bring back the passion for digital art.

Mikespeero.com

I'm not really blog-material as you guessed by now, but sometimes I will post. And todays pic is from my updated portfolio. I'm not finished yet, but the colors are decided and somewhat the layout.

edit (19 Feb): nothing is decided. i'm testing diffrent color-schemes, trying to figure out which pics are worth having around and which ones that has to go.

Dark Town

Last night I worked on a very dark picture. This is not my traditional style, so it was more of an experiment.. again. I like to be diverse. I don't know if it's good or bad, but it was fun doing it and my blog needs some more posts. So here it is:

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton. I collect movies and other fun trivia that evolves around him. Pictures of my items will be posted soon. But for now.. have a look at this amazing photo of Depp as the Mad Hatter.

Retro Style

My friends Christian Reje and Linus Morales had a photo experiment and shared some of those pictures with me. So I made two of their pics into this:

Experimenting

Today I experimented with diffrent shapes in Illustrator. In someway they're gonna be used. I don't know how yet, but later on I might haha. Made a pic aswell today. I'm trying really hard to get out of my non-creative curve, so these types of images is what's been cooking.

NOIR

Depthcore had a "pack" called NOIR in the summer. So I wanted to create a couple of pictures with the same word theme. Some were good and some were bad. I think this is the best of them.

Sorry for posting so many old pictures. I'm not perticulary creative at this moment. My work just kills me. I'm working at a warehouse, 6 days of the week and alot of extra hours. We'll see what happens in January though. It seems like they can't afford having that much staff around anymore. Maybe it's for the best. I really don't want to be stuck at a job like that. Hopefully the luck will return and land me a nice graphic position somewhere.

Bloc Party

Here's one of my typographys. I haven't made it into a working font yet. But soon it will be available. If your lucky it will be free.

For more pictures of this typography check my Behance gallery. In the beginning of next year this and some of my other typographys will be published in a Julandscape book.

Picture for Wisdom and Athena

For a while ago I got a mission from Wisdom and Athena. They're a clothing company.... I think. Anyway, they wanted me to create a piece that involved a picture on their model. I had free hands for the rest. This is how it turned out:

I wanted to bring in movement and mystery. It had to look modern, but not over the top. Many of the elements in this picture has already been used in my works before. Maybe you've seen the airbaloons before. The cold light is something that I experiment alot with. I just love how it can effect pictures so drasticly and make them stand out.

Skate Decks For Sale!

Here's some of my skate decks. If you're interested, just mail me. I've done approx 20 layouts and these are my favourites.

They've also been shown on various sites. Most hits coming from Spoon Graphics and VectorTuts.

Video The Vote

Video the Vote is a nonpartisan grassroots organization launched in 2006 to document problems at the U.S. polls on election day. VTV was created by Ian Inaba and others. Good guys. They wanted me to create a new logotype for their company. Here was my suggestion:
I chose the circle around VTV as a symbol for poll-pins within the election. The color red stands for America. It's also a symbol for the camera light. It's red and it's on the problem. The color blue was a 2nd alternative. VTV is in a handmade typography for this purpose only. For the whole total I wanted it to be classic. Almost like the tv logotypes. They're easy to recognize and they work very good on all types of media.

This time, they went with another logotype. A more modern looking. I think it's very YouTube'ish and very 2008. What do you guys think? You can find there site at www.videothevote.org and also check out their new logotype.

Looking For Internship

Unfortunately my internship with BUCK.tv (in L.A.) didn't happen. I couldn't get a visa, because of my lack of experience in the business. But I really want to thank BUCK for everything they did for me and I appreciate it.

Allthough it didn't end as planned, I feel more confident now and the future looks very promising. Just to know that a company like BUCK wanted me is huge.

So if there's someone out there who can offer me an internship, please mail me.

I'm looking most and foremost in Sweden, but I'm very open. And I can't get a visa in the states, so that's not optional I'm afraid.

Hello People

My name is Mike Speero and I'm a 22 year old graphic artist from Sweden.

Back in the days, movies was the big interest. The plan was to become a proffessional movie director. Something got in the way. Photoshop. I began developing my Photoshop techniques in 2005 and been doing it ever since.

My style is unique and recogniseable. I use similiar elements in almost every picture and the colors are often cold. In illustrator it's the opposite. It's there my playfulness takes it's turn with bright colors, odd looking creatures and creative typographys. I like to try out new things all the time to become more diverse in my making. Everything I do feels new, innovative and fun.

As a result of my hard work, there's been job-offerings, book and magazine appearances, aswell as alot of features on the internet.
